He doesnt have the legs for this division any more.

What are you basing that on?
We look far more dangerous with him on the field than any of our front men, any of them. His legs look ok to me, and have done whenever I've seen him play this season, which has been nowhere near enough.

Irony. I was being silly making a joke about his age.

He has been a gem for us ............. but if we are going into next season with our head and not our heart we cannot pay him for another year as he will be 38 next year...let him go on a free and get a good contract and pay day in a lower league

He has already said he won't go lower than the Championship... I think we'd be fools to let him go. If he feels he can play at this level for another season and the backroom staff agree then I don't see why we shouldn't take a punt on it. It's hardly going to cost us much in the grand scheme of things is it?

If we get the money we have been promised in the summer and sign 3 or 4 quality players they will not give a contract to a player who is 38 and probably on £20,000 + head must rule head as the prem is a buisness, the players we bring in should hopefully be better than phillips at his age anyway.
I have loved Phillips but we must be a tad ruthless with players to be honest if we want to progress, look at the top clubs.. when a player cannot do 90 mins they are gone quick and younger fresher players brought in.

I get the feeling he may resign at the end of the season.

Just his reaction at the SoL after our match makes me wonder if it'll be the last time he ever plays there. Sad sad day if it is :(

I doubt any player will EVER get the same reception as he did at Sunderland last week. We still love him, even if he scored against us we would have sang for him at the end. Hope you guys were joining in with us at the end of the game.

I hope so. I would LOVE to see him play at the Stadium of light just one more time.

Just as long as he doesn't score.

Philips came from the lower leagues. I wonder if he would get the same opportunity today. Rickie Lambert got a goal and two assists today playing for Southampton at Wembley! (v Carlisle 4-1). Everyone says he wouldn't make it in the Prem (see what I mean!). A goalscorer is a goalscorer in my book.

you can all say what you want but it was me who suggested on this forum that blues sign him in the first place because the baggies wouldnt give him a 2 year deal only on a play for pay basis.he never wanted to leave the area because his kids were settled in school. i am so please he went to blues the guy is an absolute legend. i would suggest blues keep him as i suggested albion should have at the time. he is a model pro and if he cant teach the kids about timing then no one in the game can.
